All praise belongs to Allah.
We praise him, and we seek
his aid and forgiveness we
seek refuge in Allah from
the evil of our own selves
and from our evil actions.
Whom so ever Allah guides,
none can misguide him and
whom so ever Allah misguide
then none can guide him. I
bear witness that nothing
has the right to be
worshipped except Allah, in
his oneness, without any
partners and I bear witness
that Muhammad PBUH is his
slave and messenger.
The Qur'an discusses
miracles that were given to
prophets to give assurance
to those who had doubt about
the truth of their message.
What is a miracle? A miracle
is a sign or a manifestation
of Allah's Power. It is also
proof of a prophet's claim.
For example, Prophet lsa
(Jesus) (PBUH) was given the
ability to perform the
miracle of healing the blind
and the leper, giving life
to the dead and making birds
out of clay. Prophet Musa
(Moses) was given the
ability to perform the
miracle of turning his staff
into a serpent. These
miracles were performed, by
the Power of Allah, not by
the power of the Prophets
who performed them. The
Qur'an states:
"And (appoint him) Isa, an
apostle to the Children of
Israel, (with this message):
"1 have come to you, with a
sign from your Lord, In that
I make for you Out of clay,
as it were, the figure of a
bird and breathe into it,
And it becomes a bird by
Allah's permission, And I
heal those born blind, and
lepers, And I quicken the
dead, by Allah's
permission;" (3:49) "
Moses said: "0 Pharaoh! I am
an apostle from The
Nourisher of the worlds,--
One for whom it is right to
say nothing but truth about
Allah. Now have I come unto
you (people), from your
Nourisher, with a clear
(Sign): So let the Children
of Israel depart along with
me." (Pharaoh) said: "If
indeed you have come with a
sign, show it forth,-- If
you are telling the truth."
Then (Musa) threw his rod,
And behold! it was A
serpent, plain to see."
(7:104- 108)
The miracles performed by
Prophet lsa (PBUH) and
Prophet Musa (PBUH) were for
a particular time and was
witnessed only by those who
were in the midst of the
prophets. However, the
miracle of Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) will be witnessed
until the end of time. After
looking at the miracles of
Prophet Isa (Jesus) and
Prophet Musa (Moses) the
next question is, "What was
the miracle of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH)?" The
miracle of Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) was the Qur'an.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
said:
"Every prophet was given
miracles by which people
believed but what I have
been given is divine
inspiration (Qur'an) which
Allah has revealed to me".
The miracle of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) was not
confined to a particular
time, his miracle (Qur'an)
is a proof for all times. We
are witnessing the powerful
force of the Qur'an today.
The miraculous nature of the
Qur'an was witnessed by
those who were amongst
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) , as
it is being witnessed by
those who are living today
and as it will be witnessed
by future generations, for
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is
described in the Qur'an as:
"A mercy to all the worlds".
(21: 1 07)
"A universal (messenger) to
men, giving glad tidings,
and warning them (against
sin)," (34:28)
The Qur'an is a miracle that
has changed the thinking and
lifestyles of people
throughout the world. It is
a book of guidance that
addresses every issue of man
at every age. It provides
solutions for human
problems. The Qur'an states:
"Nothing have We omitted
From the Book". (6:38)
There are over one billion
Muslims in the world whose
lives have been affected by
the message of the Qur'an.
The Qur'an is a miracle by
virtue of the fact that it
has brought about the
greatest transformation in
the history of man. It has
produced a people (believing
Muslims) who have changed
the course of humanity.
Accepting the fact that the
Qur'an has worked
miraculously in the lives of
others, it is up to us to
internalize the relevant and
powerful message of the
Qur'an and use it's message
to shape our lives. What
steps should be taken to
accomplish this task? We
should follow the uswatuh
hassanah (excellent model)
of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),
who exemplified the best
method by which we should
follow in making the Qur' an
the dominant influence in
our lives.
Prophet Muhammad is the
greatest human being that
ever walked on earth. He was
an obedient servant of
Allah. He was the best
helper in assisting the
growth of man. He was the
best teacher. He was the
most affectionate man. He
was the greatest reformer.
He was the best husband, the
best father, the best
businessman, and he also was
the best political leader.
Whatever area of life that
has been affected by the
excellent example of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) the results
have been outstanding.
It is interesting to note
that as we examine the
excellent example of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) you will
notice that in the word
excellent, you will find the
word excel, which means to
outdo, to be greater than or
to do one's best. The
excellent example of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) stimulates
the dormant resources in
man. We need excellent
mothers and fathers, sons
and daughters as well as
excellent brothers and
sisters. We need excellent
teachers and excellent
students. We need excellent
leaders and followers. All
people regardless of age,
color, status or
geographical location can
learn valuable lessons from
the life of Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH). We are to obey the
teachings of the Qur'an, by
following the excellent
model of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),
which will allow us to
witness the miraculous
nature of the Qur'an just as
those who were with Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) witnessed
its power. The Qurtan
encourages man to strive for
excellence.
Just as the rain revives the
earth after it showers upon
it, likewise for man, his
heart and mind can be
revived when the Qur’an
showers upon him. Proper
understanding of the Qur’an
makes the believer, an
enthusiastic individual. The
reason why many Muslims are
enthusiastic about Al-Islam,
is because they have taken
the necessary time to study
AI-Islam. The more knowledge
a person has of something,
the more enthusiastic they
become. Why is it that some
people are not enthusiastic
about this beautiful way of
life called AI-Islam? It is
because, they know very
little about AI-Islam. If we
are to live out the verse in
our lives where Allah
states, "The believers must
succeed" (23:1), we must be
enthusiastic and have focus
in our lives.
Success and enthusiasm go
hand to hand, like a hand
and a glove. People who
succeed in life, are those
who have an enthusiastic
spirit. You cannot achieve
much out of life if you have
a dead spirit. You must be
alive and alert to succeed
in life. I encourage that we
become sincere students of
the Qur’an so that we can
better live out the
excellence of our nature.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
said, "None of you truly
believes until you go after
what I have brought." What
did Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
bring? He brought the
revelation of the Qur’an,
which ignited the greatest
revolution in the life of
man. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
also said, "The best of you
is he who learns the Qur’an
and teaches it." What better
teacher can you be than a
teacher of the Word of
Allah?
One active Muslim after
another tells us that
Muslims in North America
must cooperate and
coordinate more if the
community is to progress.
These sisters and brothers
realize we have gone just
about as far as a community
of individuals and factions
can go. Of course, there are
several North American
examples of Muslims working
together to advance the
Islamic agenda and bring
justice to this continent.
But these are the pioneers,
the exceptions. There is so
much more work to be done,
and there are so many more
Muslims to be won over to
the idea of working
together.
Convincing Muslims to
communicate, cooperate and
coordinate is no easy feat.
Muslims here have a history
of division. We have allowed
race, sex, age, ethnicity,
insecurity, nationality,
disrespect, distrust,
ignorance, social status,
arrogance and organizational
loyalty to come between us
for decades. But, praise be
to Allah, we are beginning
to realize that we cannot go
on like this and be loyal to
Allah. So we are starting to
make a conscious effort to
understand each other, to
tear down these artificial
barriers between us.
It's slowly sinking into our
heads that the only way we
can make significant
progress in Islamic
education, politics, media,
social services, economics,
etc. is to pool our
resources and work together.

The Holy Quan:
Says: That
he Allah (GOD) would not
change the condition of a
people until they first
change what is in their
souls. I am challenging
American leadership to wake
up and be strong. Strong
leadership will encourage
the people to learn for
themselves.
